Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 9, 2026
Overview
Quincy is a PDF reader designed to keep your reading work local by default. You can use the app without signing in. Cloud sync and AI features are optional, and they only process data needed to provide the feature you choose to use.
Information We Collect
When you use Quincy locally, your PDFs, notes, bookmarks, reading progress, badges, and app settings are stored on your device.
If you choose to sign in for sync, Quincy may store your account identifier, email address if your sign-in provider shares one, display name if available, PDF metadata, reading progress, notes, reading profile data, and PDFs that you explicitly upload for cloud sync.
If you use AI features, Quincy sends the prompt and the relevant page text or extracted PDF context needed to answer, summarize, or quiz the page. If you enter an API key in the app, that key is stored on your device and used to make the AI request.
On the Quincy website, we may collect the email address you submit for downloads, waitlist access, or release updates.
How We Use Information
We use information to provide the features you request, including:
- Opening, rendering, and extracting text from PDFs.
- Saving notes, bookmarks, reading progress, badges, and settings.
- Syncing your library and PDFs across devices when you enable sync.
- Answering questions, summarizing pages, and generating quizzes when you use AI features.
- Sending product updates or download links when you submit your email on the website.
Sharing and Third Parties
Quincy does not sell your personal information and does not use your data for third-party advertising or cross-app tracking.
Quincy uses service providers to operate optional features. Supabase is used for authentication, database storage, and synced PDF storage. Apple and Google may be used as optional sign-in providers. AI requests may be processed by the AI provider configured in the app.
Your Choices
You can use Quincy without an account. You can choose not to upload PDFs to cloud sync. You can delete local documents in the app, delete synced cloud documents where supported, and sign out of sync at any time.
You can request help with account or data deletion by contacting support@tryquincy.live.
Security
We use reasonable technical measures to protect synced data, including authenticated access controls and encrypted transport. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Changes
We may update this policy as Quincy changes. The updated date at the top of this page shows when the policy was last revised.
